"Speeching To You" is the brainchild of Emma Bruno, M. S., CCC-SLP. As a New York State Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, she is passionate about developing patients' communication skills to their fullest potential, while also using their communities to their benefit. To that end, her holistic and naturalistic approach incorporates cultural competency, sensitivity and awareness. Emma is currently focusing her practice on adults with speech and language disorders and has the capacity to collaborate with families in assisting their loved one in reaching their fullest potential. She works with individuals with articulation disorders, aphasia, apraxia, and dysarthria.

Aphasia is a language disorder that happens when you have brain damage. Your brain has two halves. Language skills are in the left half of the brain in most people. Damage on that side of your brain may lead to language problems. Damage on the right side of your brain may cause other problems, like poor attention or memory. Aphasia may make it hard for you to understand, speak, read, or write.
It is a motor speech disorder that makes it hard to speak. It affects one's ability to be understood by others due to limited motor planning or coordination of the lips, teeth, voice and tongue.
If you have apraxia, you may:
Damage to the parts of the brain that control how your muscles move causes apraxia of speech. Any type of brain damage can cause apraxia. This includes stroke, traumatic brain injury, dementia, brain tumors, and brain diseases that get worse over time.
Dysarthria is a speech disorder caused by muscle weakness. It can make it hard for you to talk. People may have trouble understanding what you say.
